“God” had the cat, still unconscious, drink it first without telling it what it was. This drink, later revealed to a spell which would make their friendships last for all eternity, that they would be reborn and no matter how many times they were reborn the bond of their friendship would remain. “God”, not wanting their friendship or banquet to end, and only yearning to make their bond last for eternities, created a spell by drawing a circle in a cup of water with their finger.

“God” and all the other animals were devastated and it made them realize that all living things were destined to die, and that their wonderful banquets would eventually end. In their banquets, they all had a great time, as they sang, danced, and laughed.īut one night, the cat suddenly collapsed. After that occasion, the thirteen animals and the person (god) would have a banquet every night the moon shone. This made the god very happy.Įventually, the other animals (those that are considered part of the Chinese zodiac) went to see the god. And so, the cat held its words and never left the god's side. It expressed it's desire to stay by the person's side. The cat confessed that it had been watching the person for quite some time, and that it couldn't help but be drawn to them. The person was very shocked by the sudden visitor. Since God knew they were not like the humans at all, they came to fear them, specifically to get hurt by them.īut then, one day, a cat came to visit. The person had lived on top of a mountain for several years, all alone, they had lived a thousand lifetimes and possessed a thousand different powers. They never intended for this bond to become the source of generations of abuse in the Sohma linage. Their love towards their friends and their fear of being lonely, the person created a spell so they and their friends could stay connected for eternity even after death. Through this decision, it is revealed that they were a very gentle and kind person who valued their friends deeply. Because of this, they chose to make friends with animals instead. Since they knew they were different from everyone else, they were afraid of themselves, other people, and getting hurt. They were a very lonely person who chose to isolate themselves due to having "the strength of a thousand men", "the lives of a thousand men", and "a thousand memories". Additionally, their face was never shown and is obscured throughout their appearances. They was seen wearing a long, light-colored and simple haori. Their straight bangs framed their face and forehead.

They were a fair-skinned person with long, straight white hair which reached down to their feet and below.
